Parents sometimes do not know whether the child is doing play activities or just to fulfill the task of the parents. Parents bought a plaything, but the child did not respond to these games because they do not like or less attention. The parents then tried to teach them how to play, but in that time the child refused to play. If they do that things is said they do a task, is not playing.
Here are characteristics of an activity is called “playing” :
1. Having pretended quality : make an object other than the current reality, for example: a beam plastic box they deem cheese, banana into a boat, cardboard becomes as if the aircraft
2. Have the intrinsic motivation that arise over personal desires and to self-interest, eg. the age of 6 months - 1 year when teething trying to pull the hands of parents to be bitten. When parents were surprised that little fellow laughed.
3. It stresses the process rather than outcome. While playing, children are more focused on the process of playing, not on the final result.
4. Free to choose. Examples : a puzzle game, if he plays because of his own choice, it is called playing, but it is said to "work" if it is ordered by the parent or teacher.
5. Stained positive emotions, children to be thrilled or happy with the activity of play
